The Muse and Her Horse began with an imagined woman, confident, free and slightly mysterious. She is not a portrait of anyone in particular, but perhaps a reflection of different parts of ourselves: who we are, who we have been, and who we sometimes imagine ourselves to be.
Her mask leaves part of her identity hidden, while the horse carries her forward with a natural sense of freedom. In her hand, a long stem rises towards a rose made from aguayo textile. Cast in the same bronze tones as the sculpture, the rose becomes part of the figure while keeping a subtle connection to my Latin American roots.
There is something real and something imagined in this woman. For me, the muse is that part of ourselves that remains curious, creative and free, the part that continues to imagine who we might become.
