This sculpture began with something my father often told me: “Do not shipwreck; reach the port.”
I have carried those words with me for many years. They were his way of reminding me to be steadfast, persistent and consistent, especially when the journey becomes difficult.
Over time, I came to understand his words in a much wider sense. We all have moments when we lose direction, question the path we have chosen, or face difficulties that make us want to stop. The ship carried by the female figure became a reminder to stay the course, remain true to what matters to us, and keep moving towards our own port.
Some words remain with us long after they are spoken. For me, these were his.

This work was one of three sculptures I presented when I was awarded Second Place in the Sculpture category at the 2018 Da Vinci  International Art Festival, Museo José Luis Cuevas, Mexico City.
